INTERNATIONAL ISSUES AND COOPERATION COMMITTEE (IICC)

Background

The Research and Policy Division established on 5th July 2004, has been renamed the International Issues and Cooperation Committee (IICC) in May 2008 to reflect more appropriately its functions.

General Functions

  1. Develop regional and international links, and optimize the usefulness of systematic contact, networking and mutual cooperation with other National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), within ASEAN NHRI Forum; Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF); and International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC);
  2. Increase efficiency in furthering the cause of human rights in Malaysia by utilizing the human rights mechanism within the UN system as well as the mechanism afforded by the APF; and
  3. Draw on international experience to promote SUHAKAM’s local initiatives and campaigns.
