AWARDS CATEGORIES

1. Community Award (Individual)

Awarded to an individual with a proven track record in promoting and advancing human rights in the Community on a non-profit basis.

The entry should provide at least two, and no more than five, pages outlining specific examples of the nominee’s efforts.

2. Community Award (Organisation)

Awarded to a non-governmental or community-based organisation with a proven track record in promoting and advancing human rights in the community.

A community organisation is a self-funded non-profit organisation that operates within a single local community or as a subset of a wider group of non-profit organisations.

The entry should provide at least two, and no more than five, pages outlining specific examples of the nominee’s efforts.

3. The Media Award

Awarded to work published in Malaysian magazines or newspapers; or for drama, news or current affairs programme or documentary broadcast on TV or radio for the past two or three years, and particularly but not exclusively, between 31 October 2010 and 1 November 2011.

The nominated entry must expose, investigate or propel thought and action on a contemporary human rights issue in Malaysia.

Three copies of the material – newspaper or magazine clippings, or video or DVD, or audio tapes or CD must accompany the entry.
