AWARDS CATEGORIES

A. The Individual Awards

The Individual Awards are presented to an individual who has demonstrated significant achievements in serving the cause of human rights in the community on a pro-bono basis.

Submission requirement: The entry should provide a summary of two to five pages highlighting the contributions of the nominee in the field of human rights. The entry should also be accompanied by evidence of the contributions in the relevant area.

B. The Organisation/Group Awards

The Organisation/Group Awards are presented to a registered non-profit organisation and a non-registered advocacy group that has demonstrated significant achievements in serving the cause of human rights in the community on a pro-bono basis.

Submission requirement: The entry should provide a summary of two to five pages highlighting the contributions of the nominee in the field of human rights. The entry should also be accompanied by evidence of the contributions in the relevant area.

C. The Media Awards

The Media Awards are presented to three individuals and/or agencies from the Malaysian print, online and broadcast media that have published or produced a significant human rights reporting/documentary/programme.

Submission requirement: The entry must provide a summary of two to five pages highlighting the contributions of the nominated media individual or agency in making a significant impact on the lives of the people through accurate coverage or exposure of human rights issues or unheard voices of any affected community in Malaysia.

The entry must be accompanied by one copy of the relevant supporting documentation and evidence in the form of photographs, published materials, video or DVD, audio tapes or CD.

D.  The Government Awards

The Government Award is presented to a Malaysian government agency or statutory body that has demonstrated human rights best practices in their implementation of policies and regulations, programmes and services.

Submission requirement: The entry should provide a summary of two to five pages highlighting the significant work of the nominated agency or body in applying human rights principles into its policies and regulations, programmes and services. The entry should also be accompanied by evidence of the contributions in the relevant area.

E. The Business Awards

The Business Award is presented to a business entity that has demonstrated human rights best practices in its delivery of services and conduct of business activities.

Submission requirement: The entry should provide a summary of two to five pages highlighting the significant work of the business entity in applying human rights principles into its delivery of services and conduct of business activities. The entry should also be accompanied by evidence of the contributions in the relevant area.
