Tan Sri Razali Ismail

Tan Sri Razali Ismail, retired from government in 1998, after 10 years as Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, earlier postings, and altogether 35 years in service.  At the UN, Razali Ismail served in various capacities: Group of 77, UN Security Council, Commission on Sustainable Development and President of the General Assembly developing positions on development, sustainability, governance, UN reforms, and on political/security. He continues his involvement in these subjects in Malaysia and outside. He was the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Myanmar 2000-2005.

Tan Sri Razali Ismail has been the Chairman of Iris Corporation Berhad since 2002.  He is also the Chair of Cypark Resources Berhad and Allianz Malaysia Berhad as well as the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia. He heads an NGO foundation namely Yayasan Chow Kit that looks into the welfare of displaced children; sits on the Board of the Razak School of Government, and is the Chairman of the Global Movement of Moderates Foundation.  He was appointed as the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) in June 2016 for the term 2016-2019.
